This is a great store with an amazingly varying collection of cards and gifts.
Keep in mind when reading reviews
If a business does not pay Yelp or google the site arranges the reviews to show more negative reviews, but once the business pays them the reviews magically reorganize to show a more positive presentation. It's about 1,000.00 a month to "claim" a business.

I parked in front of this store on my way to Troy next door to meet Alan for lunch after his exercise class. In the window I saw a great Dia de Los Dubs shirt and behind it a similar one for the Raiders. After lunch I stopped in to take a closer look. The staff I encountered seemed shy but friendly. They had the Dubs shirt in yellow and in blue, which I preferred. They also had Giants, A's and other local teams w/ the same theme. I really wanted it but decided against it since I have so many Warriors shirts, both long sleeved and short, and couldn't justify another one. They have a great assortment of socks and cards and other interesting things. On the way out of the store I chatted briefly about the shirt w/ the young man who was cleaning one of the displays and he wished me a good day.

I wasn't certain about what I would meet given all the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. There is a huge selection of affordable cards, and smaller gifts that might make even the most dull person laugh. I walked the wall snorting and laughing my way down to the t-shirt section. Yeah, its true- no pictures allowed- but you know why? Because these store owners know we want to buy it on amazon. So are they hoping we don't act like jerks. I got caught too!
So anyhow, I needed to pick up a shirt for my kid, which I did with some suggestions from the clerk. I thought she was cool. She's actually down to help you be the best gift giver ever. Not sure what to get, she's got your back just ask her.
I think Greeting is a good hometown spot to pick up gifts and laugh with friends.
Also I don't think its fair to leave 1 star reviews for employees following store rules. That's super ridiculous and privileged behavior. Come on. You don't have a job with rules? :eyerollHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Camilla P.Berkeley, CA2413Dec 18, 2019
Although Greetings on Solano Ave. had a lovely selection of Christmas cards, it's unlikely that I will go here again. It was unpleasant to hear the manager constantly grouch the young new employee at the register. It's not necessary to be that horrible when training somebody, and her harsh words to the new employee would be off-putting to any customer. She then yelled at me when I tried on some earrings. At that point I left the store.

Wow. Totally vindicated by this place's crap ratings. They have a cute selection of gifts, many local, but nothing outstandingly spectacular for the area - you can find similar shops in Berkeley, Rockridge, etc. There is no excuse for how they treat customers.
Seeing that they had a nice selection of SF-themed greeting cards, I popped in here to pick up cards to use for invitations to a local event. Immediately upon walking in, I checked a text message and was chastised for "taking pictures." Lol, ok. As if your shit is even that valuable/special?
Embarrassed and pissed, I quickly picked out some cards. Big, passive-aggressive signs all over the card shelves warned not to open the card boxes. Seeing that there were no sample cards out to look at, I assumed that the generic Golden Gate/Bay View/etc cards would be blank inside. Nope - got home and saw "Season's Greetings" in tacky font on the inside. Totally useless for a Spring event. At this point it was too late for anyone to be sending out Christmas cards, so nice way of liquidating your Christmas shit, I guess?
For similar merchandise, check out Avant Card, Twig & Fig, Nathan &Co...anywhere but here.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - East B.Berkeley, CA09538Apr 21, 2018
Last minute Birthday gifts, great selection of cards and great customer service.
Have been coming to this store for over 20 years. The store is a tad small in comparison to the stores on Grand and Piedmont Avenue in Oakland, but somehow they manage to have a good cross section of everything that's carried at the other stores.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Molly B.Alameda, CA012Jan 16, 2018
My 11 year old daughter bought me a cute tee shirt from here for a Christmas present early in December. With 4 weeks of her allowance that she had saved. She was so excited to give it to me! But it ran a little small, and together we went to exchange it, a couple weeks into January, because we had a death in our family and life has been hectic.
Tags were on. Shirt not worn. We were refused a simple exchange because we were out of the 30 days exchange/refund period. And they were damn rude about it.
Greetings? Bubbye. My little girl cried because of you. Nice going.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Victoria H.Berkeley, CA411819Feb 10, 2019
I love this card store. It has the most creating and elegant cards for all tastes and all occasions. We bought a set of Valentines for school classroom. There are also stickers for sale and pretty socks and San Francisco souvenirs

The reviews for this place really don't lie. The people working at this store are very rude. You are running a small gift shop for sake, I don't think that attitude helps with business. I walked in and immediately, without greeting a lady asked to take my drink and hold it behind the counter; i guess some policy of theirs. They have some cool stuff in there, but because my visit was so unpleasant, i'd rather go someplace else.

Strange to see all the negative reviews about this place. Nearly prevented me from trying it out but wanted to give a small local store A try. The woman couldn't have been more helpful and nice in helping me pick out some birthday cards and little gifts.very personalized attention and I even got a free lgift for my nephew for spending 20 bucks. Will definitely go back and support them
